Abstract Expressionists We Love: Julia Mann

on July 31, 2023

Julia Mann
Mainz, Germany

German artist Julia Mann's paintings are a great contribution to the contemporary world of Abstract Expressionism. Encouraged and instructed by her mother, an expert of Abstract Expressionism, Julia's art effectively expresses raw emotion and introspection.

Each of her paintings consists of a fusion of bold strokes, rich textures, and vivid colors. Although there seems to be a moodiness to her work, her canvases nonetheless seem to pulsate with an energy that invites me into a world where my subconscious is called to center stage.

'Soft Drops' by Julia Mann.

Julia draws inspiration from tumultuous experiences of her life and the ever-changing world around her, and her paintings accordingly elicit feelings of optimism and strength. She aspires, after all, for such a reception: "Through the rush of dynamism and liveliness of the [paintings], each person should become more aware of [their] inner strength."

Her palettes sometimes feel a bit too heavy for me, but I value Julia's commitment to authenticity within the Abstract Expressionism movement, which can often become a rather pretentious space.
