Abstract Expressionists We Love: Sarah Trundle

on April 15, 2024

Sarah Trundle
Charlottesville, VA, US

After two decades as a mental health therapist, abstract expressionist artist Sarah Trundle now focuses on her creative work. It’s Sarah’s use of bright colors and lively marks that pull me to her work. Her paintings express an alluring positive energy that invites the observer to engage.

'Detour Ahead,' by Charlottesville-based contemporary abstract expressionist artist Sarah Trundle.

Sarah’s inventory of paintings is diverse. While such variety can sometimes throw me off, the consistent energy throughout her collection creates a coherency that allows me to appreciate the range. I’m not big on anything figurative—I like pure abstraction—so, it’s Sarah’s truly abstract expressionist paintings that I’m most drawn to.

'Never a Dull Moment,' by Charlottesville-based contemporary abstract expressionist artist Sarah Trundle.

Geometric shapes, bright colors, and dynamic brushstrokes characterize Sarah’s abstract paintings. As she explains, her process embraces the surprises that are created by taking risks. All of her paintings (even her more minimalist ones [below]) are layered and complex, which comes through the more carefully I look at each one.

We love the positive and expressive energy in Sarah’s paintings. Check out her work on Instagram and at her website: https://www.sarahtrundle.com.
